Sweet Sorrow by David Nicholls

Yet again David Nicholls has written a novel that is both heart-rending and heart-warming. I loved the nostalgic trip back to my school days, loved the Shakespearean references, and loved the bitter-sweet humour in this wonderful novel. David Nicholls nails the 1980s school angst and had me laughing out loud, for example: 'Slow songs provided a school-sanctioned opportunity to lie on top of each other while standing up.' This is a cracking coming of age story that will take everyone back to their awkward teenage years.
